The Grant-Valkaria Community Association is a 501(c) 3 organization. We are always looking for ideas to improve our beautiful town, so the decision was made to create a Memorial for Veterans. In April 2024, The Veterans' Memorial Park at Grant-Valkaria came to life... a lot of ideas and a lot of research.
After much deliberation, The Veteran Committee agreed to build the Memorial in phases. The Memorial Park will consist of:
- A life-size bronze male and female soldier statue
stacked brick monuments with four murals.
- Six Service branch emblems displayed on a 4 ft stacked split face brick wall
- Four vertical monuments displaying Veteran commemorative engraved bricks
- Two vertical monuments displaying military signage
- Two flag poles that will fly the USA flag, the POW/MIA flag & State of Florida flag.
- Six Concrete Benches
- Bronze battlefield cross
- Bronze Service K9
- Bronze Bald Eagle statue
- Eternal Flame
- Educational Area, ADA compliant, with educational placards and picnic tables
The 4,900-square-foot Memorial will be situated on the west side of Town Hall, facing the lakefront and fountain under a beautiful heritage oak tree named FREEDOM. The magnificent tree will provide shade and solace for family members and veterans as they remember their loved ones and brothers/sisters-in-arms and honor their memory.
